The SoSafe Framework is a set of visual and conceptual tools used to promote social safety and sexual safety for people with disability, their supporters, and their communities. The first edition of SoSafe was made 25 years ago and SoSafe is now in its third edition.

The SoSafe Framework consists of tools, rules, language and practices that clarify social complexity for us all through:

  • · presenting a simplified, visual, and rules based model of social reality
  • · teaching the type and degree of verbal and physical intimacy appropriate with different categories of people
  • · providing strategies for moving into relationships in safe ways including using consent

The one-day (9am to 4pm) workshop is for people who work with individuals with a disability. Training participants will learn how to implement the Framework when supporting individuals with disability one on one, in group sessions, and/or across their organisation. Please note that SoSafe is applicable to people inclusive of all genders and the workshop will include implementation examples from across all age groups.

SHFPACT offers SoSafe training throughout the year. Please see details below. If you are interested in your whole organisation being trained in SoSafe, please contact SHFPACT directly.

This stuff works and is so important to keep PWD safe

A young person I worked with 15 years ago approached me recently and recounted their memory of being taught public and private and steps to relationship. This stuff works and is so important to keep PWD safe. Well done team.

Such an informative and practical course

Thank you for delivering such an informative and practical course. The content was clear, engaging, and highly relevant to my role. I now feel more confident in supporting people with disability around social and sexual safety. I would highly recommend this training to others in the sector.
